Head Coach Corey Patterson and Hitting Coach Aaron Patterson Return; Kyle Farnsworth Named Pitching Coach
(Brookhaven, GA) The Brookhaven Bucks, members of the Sunbelt Baseball League, have announced Corey Patterson will be returning as head coach for the 2017 season. Patterson will be joined by pitching coach Kyle Farnsworth and hitting coach Aaron Patterson.
Corey Patterson enters his third season as head coach of the Bucks. The Bucks have earned the Sunbelt Baseball League East Division Wild Card in each of his two seasons at the helm. Under Patterson, sixteen Bucks have been named to the Sunbelt All-Star team and seven franchise records have been broken.
Prior to becoming the Bucks head coach, Patterson played fifteen years of professional baseball, including twelve seasons in Major League Baseball for the Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, Washington Nationals, Milwaukee Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays and St. Louis Cardinals.
Kyle Farnsworth joins the Bucks as pitching coach. Farnsworth enjoyed a twenty-two year career in professional baseball. He spent sixteen seasons pitching for Major League Baseball teams (Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Tampa Bay Rays, Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets and Houston Astros). Most recently, Farnsworth has served as pitching coach for Windermere Prep (Windermere, Fla.) and is a member of the Orlando Phantoms, a semi-pro football team.
Aaron Patterson returns for his third season as the hitting coach for the Bucks. During Coach Patterson’s first two seasons with the Bucks, the team has been one of the top offensive teams in the Sunbelt League. The Sunbelt batting champion and home run champion were won by members of the Bucks in 2016. Coach Aaron Patterson, a graduate of Jones County High School (Gray, Ga.), played college baseball for North Florida Community College (Madison, Fla.) and Bethune-Cookman University (Daytona Beach, Fla.).
The Brookhaven Bucks are members of the Sunbelt Baseball League. Funded in part by Major League Baseball (MLB), the Sunbelt League is a summer collegiate wooden-bat league with teams in Georgia (Alpharetta, Brookhaven, Carrollton, Marietta, Norcross, Lawrenceville and Suwanee) and Alabama (Phenix City). Bucks home games are played at Oglethorpe University. The Sunbelt League season starts in June and ends with the league championship series in early August. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
