Team Returns Several Standout Players and Head Coach Corey Patterson
(BROOKHAVEN, GA) The Brookhaven Bucks return to the diamond for a new season in the Sunbelt League. The Bucks will take on the Marietta Patriots on Opening Day, Saturday, June 4th, on their home field at Oglethorpe University. First pitch will be at 1:35 p.m.
Head Coach Corey Patterson, who played Major League Baseball for 12 seasons, returns for his second season with the Bucks. Patterson is looking to improve upon last season’s Sunbelt East Division 3rd place finish.
When asked about the upcoming season, Patterson said “I can’t wait to get back at it. We have some key players returning from last season’s team and some great new guys.”
Players returning from the 2015 team include Liam Henry (Junior/RHP/Georgia State), David Mayo (Senior/OF,RHP/Mount Olive), Will Johnson (Junior/OF/Georgia State), Pierce Ressmeyer (Junior/Catcher), Darius Sewell (Sophomore/OF,3B/Georgia State) and Cameron Sperry (Senior/1B/Georgia State).
The Bucks roster is made up of current college players who are pursuing baseball at the next level. Several former Bucks are currently playing professionally, including London Lindley (Texas Rangers, Class A), Touki Toussaint (Atlanta Braves, Class A), Kevin Steen (Boston Red Sox, Class A), Matt Rose (Chicago Cubs, Class A) and Nic Wilson (Tampa Bay Rays, Class A).
“We’re ready for another great season of Bucks baseball. The field at Oglethorpe looks great and we’re planning some great events and promotions for fans of all ages,” said Bucks Owner and General Manager Brad Dickison.
The Brookhaven Bucks are members of the Sunbelt League, a summer collegiate wooden-bat league with teams in Georgia (Alpharetta, Brookhaven, Carrollton, Marietta, Norcross, Lawrenceville) and Alabama (Phenix City). Bucks home games are played at Oglethorpe University. The Sunbelt League season starts June 4th and ends with the league championship series July 30th-August 3rd.
