Brookhaven Bucks take close game on Opening Day

Alpharetta,GA- The Brookhaven Bucks (1-0) kicked off the 2014 Sunbelt season by winning a tight game over the Windward Braves (0-1), 2-1.

The Bucks were the first on the board, when third baseman Morgan Bunting’s triple scored center fielder JJ Shaffer. In the third inning, a single and walk led to Bunting’s second RBI of the night, when he smacked a single that scored Shaffer again.

The Braves scored their only run of the night in the 8th when Will Canady stole second base, advanced to third on a groundout to shortstop, and then scored on Bucks catcher Tyler Martin’s throw to second base.

Next up for both teams is a rematch on Wednesday night at Oglethorpe University, the Bucks’ home field.
