The Brookhaven Bucks are off and running for the 2016 season. The team is 3-3 in the Sunbelt Baseball League.
Three graduates of Marist School are members of the team this season.
Rey Pascual, a Brookhaven resident, graduated from Marist in 2015. Pascual is a catcher for the Bucks and went 1-3 with 1 run scored in Monday’s game vs. the Norcross Astros. Pascual is a rising sophomore at Harvard University, where he is a member of the Crimson baseball team.
Steven Taylor, a Brookhaven resident, graduated from Marist in 2014. Taylor plays 2B for the Bucks and went 2-4 with 3 RBI on Monday, June 13th to help the Bucks beat the Norcross Astros 10-0. Taylor is a rising junior at Mercer University, where he is a member of the Bears baseball team.
Tyler Hughes, a Tucker resident, graduated from Marist in 2014. Hughes is a pitcher for the Bucks and has struck out 4 in 4 innings this season. Hughes is a rising junior at the University of North Carolina Asheville, where he is a member of the Bulldogs baseball team.
The Brookhaven Bucks are members of the Sunbelt Baseball League, a summer collegiate wooden-bat league with teams in Georgia (Alpharetta, Brookhaven, Carrollton, Marietta, Norcross, Lawrenceville) and Alabama (Phenix City). Bucks home games are played at Oglethorpe University. The Sunbelt League regular season ends July 23rd and playoffs run from July 25th through August 3rd.
