John Kosobud (Centre College) was named the Sunbelt Baseball League Cy Young Award winner, given annually to the best pitcher in the league.

Kosobud anchored the Brookhaven Bucks pitching staff during their SBL championship run this summer with a 3-0 record and 1 save in 7 appearances, while touting a 2.40 ERA and striking out 39 batters in 30 innings. He’s the first pitcher in Bucks franchise history to win the award.

The Bucks won their third league championship this season, first since winning back-to-back in 2018 and 2019. The team’s roster was made up of some of the best college baseball players from around the southeast – 23 different colleges were represented this summer.
