Congratulations to Tazwell Butler, a member of the 2022 Brookhaven Bucks, on being drafted by the Houston Astros today in the 10th round (301st overall pick) of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft.
Taz appeared in 8 games for the Bucks in 2022 (1.86 ERA, 1 save, 9.2 IP, 9 H, 6 BB, 10 SO). He went on to have two successful seasons with Walters State Community College (2023-24) and two great seasons with Kansas State University (2025-26). He spent the 2025 summer pitching for the Harwich Mariners in the Cape Cod Baseball League. This summer, he had enormous success pitching for the West Virginia Black Bears in the MLB Draft League (1.53 ERA, 17.2 IP, 11 H, 6 BB, 28 SO).
